COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College had 204 student-athletes qualify for the Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for the spring semester, including 18 that posted a 4.0 grade-point average last semester.
Saint Michael's placed 10th among the league's 15 institutions in total honorees, but it was eighth by having 62.2 percent of its NE10 student-athletes land on the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Student-athletes that earn a minimum 3.0 GPA during a given semester are eligible for the accolade. Eighteen of the Purple Knights' squads compete in the NE10.
Field hockey claimed a school-best four 4.0 student-athletes, with rising junior MaKayla Foster (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury Union) perfect for the fourth time in four semesters, May graduate Jenna Deschaine (Claremont, N.H./Stevens) posting her third career 4.0, and rising senior Nicole White (Cranston, R.I./Lincoln School) and rising sophomore Molly Humiston (Kittery, Maine/R.W. Traip Academy) notching their second and first 4.0s, respectively.
Four teams saw a pair of Purple Knights register perfect GPAs. Women's cross country May graduate Roxy Withers (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy), one of three valedictorians who accumulated a cumulative 4.0 GPA, turned in her eighth consecutive 4.0 semester, including her sixth while a student-athlete. Teammate and rising sophomore Emma Bellefleur (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kingswood Regional) qualified for the first time.
Women's basketball rising senior Emily Ferreri (Hyde Park, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) made it six 4.0s in as many tries, while rising sophomore Nicole Anderson (Kittery Point, Maine/Marianapolis Prep) earned her first accolade. Men's ice hockey rising sophomores Thomas Flack (Toronto, Ontario/Saint Michael's Buzzers) and Ethan Hendrickson (Budd Lake, N.J./New Jersey Rockets) claimed their second and first honors, respectively, while women's swimming & diving rising juniors Megan Reid (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) and Katie Valle (Weston, Mass./Weston) both landed their initial NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll nods.
Men's soccer rising senior Bradley Anair (Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) was lauded for the third time and women's lacrosse rising sophomore Ashley Turner (Monkton, Vt./Mount Abraham Union) for the second time. Women's soccer May graduate Abby Pelon (South Lyon, Mich./Ladywood), men's cross country rising junior Mitch McDonald (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake), men's basketball rising sophomore Alvi Rodriguez (Madrid, Spain/La Salle Maravillas) and men's golf rising sophomore Jack Maino (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) all qualified for their first awards.
The field hockey team topped Saint Michael's - and all NE10 field hockey programs - with 22 honorees, while women's soccer (21) narrowly trailed. Men's ice hockey (16), men's lacrosse (16) and softball (14) were nearby, while women's cross country, women's lacrosse and women's swimming & diving all had 13 qualifiers.
