Evan Hansen, a native of nearby Saint Albans, joins the Saint Michael's Athletic Training staff as an intern for the 2018-19 school year. Hansen was also a fire support specialist in the Vermont Army National Guard between 2011 and 2018 before being honorably discharged.
Hansen gained clinical experience most recently during his two years as a graduate student at Plymouth State University, between July 2016 and May 2018. He worked with various programs, including basketball, football, ice hockey, lacrosse and soccer, at Plymouth State, while performing functions such as creating rehabilitation and treatment plans. Hansen also gained experience as an athletic training intern at Saint Johnsbury Academy in fall 2015, assisting in the evaluation, treatment, and management of injuries of student-athletes from 11 different sports. Hansen volunteered with the Bay State Summer Games Basketball Tournament in 2017 in Roxbury, Mass.
Hansen graduated from Northern Vermont University-Lyndon in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science, concentrating on pre-professional athletic training. He completed his master's degree in athletic training from Plymouth State in 2018. A member of Iota Tau Alpha, the athletic training honor society, Hansen earned the Army's Achievement Medal, and has been granted Secret security clearance and a Combat Lifesaver certification by the U.S. Army. He presented at the 2018 New Hampshire Athletic Trainers' Association (NHATA) student symposium and is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a personal trainer.
