Burlington native Eric Gissendanner heads into his second year as the Saint Michael's Athletic Communications intern in 2015-16. A May 2014 graduate of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, Gissendanner is the 11th intern to serve in the role since it was established in 2005.
Gissendanner provides experience in the field after serving as a Sports Information student assistant for his final five semesters at SUNY Plattsburgh and earning academic credit as a student intern in the Saint Michael's Athletic Communications Department during the summer of 2013 and the spring semester of 2014. At Saint Michael's, Gissendanner assisted the department's day-to-day operations was a member of the gameday event staff.
Since 2008, Gissendanner has been the sports information director for the Colchester Cannons American Legion Baseball team, serving such roles as official scorer and media liaison. Gissendanner covered sled hockey, Nordic skiing and biathlon at the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia, for the Wheelchair Sports Federation and was a student intern and freelance writer at Plattsburgh's Press-Republican daily newspaper between August 2012 and December 2013. He earned a degree in newspaper journalism from SUNY Plattsburgh in May 2014.
