COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's basketball junior Levi Holmes III (East Brunswick, N.J./Rutgers Prep) landed on the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 12.
Holmes averaged 28.0 points to go along with 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 offensive rebounds and 1.5 assists per game over 32.0 minutes during an 0-2 weekend. He shot 50.0 percent (19-for-38) from the floor, including 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from three-point range, while hitting all eight free throw attempts. In an 89-82 loss to Mercy (N.Y.) College on Saturday, Holmes notched a career-high 29 points, nine rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes, shooting 10-of-19 overall, 4-of-9 from deep and 5-of-5 on freebies. He collected 27 points, four rebounds and an assist while connecting on 6-of-10 from beyond the arc - tying his career high in threes - during an 86-66 loss at No. 5 Saint Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.) College on Sunday. The Spartans advanced to the 2017 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.
Holmes, who moved into a tie with Travis Warech '13 for 14th in program history with 127 career threes during the weekend, leads the NE10 in scoring (28.0) while standing second in the NCAA East Region. His is also first in the region in three-pointers made per game (5.0) and tied for tops in free throw shooting.
Saint Michael's kicks off its home and NE10 schedules by facing regionally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Penmen, who stand fifth in the latest D2SIDA East Region Media Poll, qualified for four of the last five NCAA Tournaments and finished as last year's NE10 Championship runner-up.
