Dan Johnson Claims Second Career NE10 Academic All-Conference Laurel

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College men's lacrosse May graduate Dan Johnson (Ringwood, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) was among 93 student-athletes across 10 sports selected for a Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference accolade for the spring athletic season.

Johnson joins Kevin Hunt '12 as the lone two-time NE10 Academic All-Conference selections in program history, with Johnson also being lauded as a sophomore. Ten men's lacrosse players from across the NE10 were voted to the team, as Purple Knights have now been recognized 13 times in the past nine years with conference or regional academic honors. Johnson was named New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Academic All-New England this spring and qualified for the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll during seven terms by accumulating a 3.0 grade-point average each semester. He studied abroad during the other semester.

Johnson was limited to 11 games in 2018, including seven starts, due to injury but still totaled nine caused turnovers and eight ground balls with zero turnovers as a starter on defense. Among his best performances were when he recorded two ground balls and one caused turnover in back-to-back contests versus nationally-ranked Pace University and Adelphi University in late March. He finished his career ninth in program history with 37 caused turnovers. Johnson earned the Roger F. Keleher '15 Award as the top male scholar-athlete in the Class of 2018.

The NE10 Academic All-Conference teams are chosen by a vote of a committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR). To be eligible for selection to the academic all-conference teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative GPA; and 3) completed at least one academic year at their current institution.
