COLCHESTER, Vt. - An experienced veteran core is joined by 12 newcomers as the Saint Michael's College men's soccer team looks to build upon a 2017 season that included 11 games decided by one goal or less.

Saint Michael's opens the season by visiting Queens (N.Y.) College on Aug. 30 ... the Purple Knights kick off their home slate with a non-league contest against NE10 foe Saint Anselm College for the Community Cup on Sept. 5 before starting their conference schedule at Merrimack College, which is 22nd in the United Soccer Coaches preseason national poll, on Sept. 11 ... Merrimack represents the first of back-to-back 2017 NCAA Tournament opponents for Saint Michael's, with 13th-ranked Adelphi University visiting Duffy Field on Sept. 15 ... Southern Connecticut State University (road, Oct. 3) is the Purple and Gold's third NCAA Tournament foe this season ... the top eight teams in the NE10 head into postseason competition beginning on Oct. 30.
