Men's Tennis Falls at Franklin Pierce to Open Quick Three-Match Stretch

RINDGE, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team kicked off a run of three matches in four days on Saturday with a 9-0 loss to Franklin Pierce University in the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Activity Center during Northeast-10 Conference play. The Purple Knights are 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the league, while the Ravens improved to 5-2 and 2-0.

Juniors Max Allen (Dennis, Mass./Dennis-Yarmouth Regional) and Jake Remillard (Saint Albans, Vt./BFA-Saint Albans) sided for an 8-5 loss at No. 3 doubles, the Purple Knights' closest result, as the two partnered for the first time in their careers.

First-year Colby Antonacci (Bolton Valley, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union/Saint Anselm) turned in a narrow loss in singles play, dropping a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 decision in the fifth position. Classmate Cam Maher (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) had a similarly close opening set in a 6-4, 6-2 defeat at No. 3.

The Purple Knights turn around and host Merrimack College tomorrow at 12 p.m. The Warriors have qualified for the past 10 NCAA Tournaments.
