Ryan Magee '11 enters his third season as head coach of the Saint Michael's men's tennis program in 2017-18, and his fifth season overall after serving as an assistant for two seasons. The fall of 2017 is also his sixth as an assistant with the women's squad, and he served as interim head coach between coaches in late 2015 and early 2016.

During its first Florida training trip since 2013-14, Saint Michael's notched its first win of the 2016-17 season with a 5-4 victory over Millersville (Pa.) University on March 12 in Orlando at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus. The remainder of the season included various narrow losses that featured close swing matches during singles and doubles play, among them a season-ending 6-3 loss to Franklin Pierce University that involved a 9-7 doubles defeat and a 6-4, 7-5 singles setback. Among the examples of progress during the season was a 7-2 loss to Assumption College that featured three three-set singles losses, as the Purple and Gold won a combined 59 games, its most against the Greyhounds since Oct. 2, 2011, good for 18 more than during a loss by the same score in 2015-16 and more than double the 28 it totaled in a meeting as recently as in 2014-15.

The Purple Knights downed American International College, 7-2, on April 7, 2016, for Magee's first college coaching victory. The Purple and Gold student-athletes showed improvement throughout the season, winning more than 150 more games over the previous season.

A three-year tennis player during his undergraduate days at the College, Magee earned 18 victories between singles and doubles play. He graduated in 2011 with degrees in business administration and information systems.
