Rathwell lands on NE10 Weekly Honor Roll for first career accolade

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College softball first-year Torie Rathwell (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, March 19. She claimed the accolade following her first full week of play as a collegian.

Rathwell hit .381 with six RBIs and a .571 slugging percentage during seven games last week while also notching a 3.44 earned run average and 12 strikeouts across 18.1 innings, pitching six games. Three of Rathwell's pitching appearances were starts, two of which she completed, and she walked only five. At the plate, Rathwell slugged a home run and a double while also scoring one run.

On Tuesday, she was 1-for-2 against Bemidji State (Minn.) University before going 2-for-4 with one run, five RBIs, a double and a home run during a 13-9 loss to the University of Bridgeport. She struck out three in two innings of relief, allowing two runs. In the third game of the day, Rathwell was 3-for-3 with an RBI while blanking Concordia University-Saint Paul (Minn.) over two innings of relief in a 5-3 loss.

On Thursday, she was 1-for-3 against Edinboro (Pa.) University while allowing all three runs - but one earned - and striking out four in six innings during a 3-1 defeat. Later that day, she allowed two unearned runs in 0.2 innings of relief against Saint Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.) College. In a 3-1 loss to Concordia-Saint Paul on Friday, Rathwell allowed only two earned runs during a six-inning, complete-game effort before going 1-for-4 during a 1-0, eight-inning loss to Indiana (Pa.) University in the nightcap.

For the season, Rathwell leads Saint Michael's in batting (.308), hits (8), RBIs (6), slugging (.462), pitching appearances (7) and complete games (3). The righty has struck out 12 in 24 innings. She is tied for eighth in the NE10 in complete games and tied for 15th in RBIs.
