COLCHESTER, Vt. - Twelve Saint Michael's College skiers drew United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA) National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team laurels recently, being recognized after posting a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade-point average. Qualifiers must also compete at an NCAA regional championship, as seven members of the Alpine squad and five Nordic representatives were honored after racing at the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) Championship in late February at the Middlebury College Carnival.
Seven Alpine skiers earned recognition, as seniors Danny Duffy (Warren, Vt./Green Mountain Valley School) and Meggane Grand (La Plagne, France/Lycée des métiers Ambroise Croizat), juniors Torjus Grimsrud (Stabekk, Norway/Donski Alpine) and Clara Lopez Costa (Barcelona, Spain/Green Mountain Valley School), sophomores Megan Dingman (Park City, Utah/Rowland Hall) and Anna Willassen (Jar, Norway/Persbråten VGS), and first-year Julianne Grimsrud (Stabekk, Norway/Donski Alpine) landed nods. Grand earned the honor for the fourth time in her career, Duffy and Torjus Grimsrud collected the accolade for the third time, and Dingman and Willassen claimed their second awards.
Five members from the Nordic program were lauded, as senior Micaela Flagg (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kingswood Regional), sophomores Kevin Jeter (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie), Mitch McDonald (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) and Aimee Sala (Carabassett Valley, Maine/Kents Hill School), and first-year Emma Bellefleur (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kingswood Regional) were honored. Flagg and McDonald qualified for the second time apiece.
