Swimming & Diving Squads Cap Home Slates with Losses to Saint Rose

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's and women's swimming & diving teams capped their home slates with losses to The College of Saint Rose on Friday afternoon in the Ross Sports Center natatorium. The women fell by a 108-88 count, and the men suffered a 129-86 setback.

THE ACTION

  • Kohn won the 200- (2:03.49) and 500-yard (5:31.05) freestyle races while adding a victory in the 400 free relay (3:56.24), siding with White, senior Tess Grimaldi (Higganum, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) and junior Lauren Giampietro (Watertown, Conn./Watertown).
  • Reid and White were members of the top 400-yard medley relay (4:45.44), joining senior Elizabeth Doherty (Dedham, Mass./Dedham) and sophomore Leah Benoit (Franklin, Mass./Franklin).
  • First-year Maggie King (Clinton, Conn./Mercy) claimed victory in the lone one-meter diving competition (111.80).
  • Giampietro took second in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard butterfly.
  • Grimaldi was the 50 free runner-up, falling by 0.2 seconds, and placed second during the 100 free.
  • Sophomore Meg Geschwind (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) claimed second place during the 1,000 free.

  • Kinville won both one-meter diving competitions (159.30, 117.30), extending his career high to seven victories this season.
  • Mulderrig touched the wall first in the 200 fly (2:12.47), while sophomore Dan Fortier (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) was second. Mulderrig swam for a pair of runner-up relays, in the 400 free and 400 medley.
  • Hopkins took the 200 back (2:02.28), was second in the 50 free, and joined Mulderrig, sophomore Payton Stewart (Keene, N.H./Keene) and first-year William Sullivan (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) on the second-place 400 free relay.
  • Fortier and first-years Nate Imbergamo (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and Sean McGurn (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) rounded out the 400 medley relay.
  • McGurn was second in the 200 breast and 500 free, Stewart took second in the 100 free, and Imbergamo placed second during the 1,000 free, losing by only 0.86 seconds.
