COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball junior Samantha Delaney (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Nov. 26. Delaney claimed the accolade for the third straight week.
Delaney averaged 15.5 points on 48.0 percent shooting from the floor and a 7-of-7 performance on free throws to go along with 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 block during a 1-1 week. In a 65-53 loss at Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday, she had 12 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 21 minutes before totaling 19 points, five rebounds, an assist and a steal in a 59-51 win at American International College on Sunday, her team's first triumph there since Jan. 26, 2008. Delaney notched her career-high-tying third double-double against the Ravens, and she pushed her career blocks total to 101 that night, becoming the seventh Purple Knight to reach 100.
A 6-foot-2 forward, Delaney averages career highs in scoring (14.5) and rebounding (10.3) behind personal bests in field goal shooting (46.6%) and free throw percentage (90.5%). She is third in the NE10 in rebounding, fourth in free throw shooting, sixth in blocks per game (1.3) and tied for ninth in scoring. Among all NCAA East Region players, Delaney is tied for third in double-doubles and sits fifth in rebounding and free throw shooting.
Now 3-3 overall and 0-3 in the NE10, the Purple Knights host five of their next six games, beginning with Assumption College on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
