The Purple Knights committed only four first-half turnovers while forcing 10 to trail 20-19 by halftime. After three players scored in an opening 7-1 run, which included a Ferreri three-point play, Assumption forged ahead thanks to a 16-4 stretch, with O'Donnell and junior Jordan Hawkins scoring four points each. Sophomore Cassandra Falone's (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) three-pointer at 6:00 of the second quarter triggered an 8-3 response, and first-year Nicole Anderson's (Kittery Point, Maine/Marianapolis Prep) triple at 1:23 drew Saint Michael's within a single point heading into the locker room.

After totaling 39 points in the first 20 minutes, the teams combined for 30 in the third quarter alone. O'Donnell netted five points in an opening 7-2 run that pushed the lead to 27-21, but Spencer had five points and Delaney four during a 9-0 stretch that gave the Purple Knights a 30-27 edge. Seven of the next eight points came from Greyhounds, and O'Donnell's three-point play pushed the lead to four at 1:20.

Spencer drilled a three off of Purcell's pass at 8:39 of the fourth quarter to bring Saint Michael's within 38-36 before Assumption extended its advantage to seven on O'Donnell's lay-up with 6:56 to go. Bennett buried a three on the next possession before Ferreri made two free throws to create a 43-41 margin at 6:03, and the visitors still trailed by two on Delaney's lay-in with 5:39 to go. However, Reen scored the next five points, kicking off a personal 7-2 run. Bennett's lay-up made it 52-47 at 3:12, but O'Brien and O'Donnell split the scoring during an 8-2 run that helped Assumption lead by 11 with a little more than a minute to go.

The Purple Knights visit No. 7 Bentley University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The Falcons' ranking is according to this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national poll.
