At 14:28, Goostrey nabbed the first goal for the Crusaders with a backhander that was flipped from behind the net that went off of Talcott's trapper and trickled in. Talcott denied a one-timer from the slot with her blocker at 15:41. During a power-play opportunity at 19:56, senior Kara Violette slipped a shot from the slot over Talcott's right shoulder.

First-year Maddie Gervais (Glastonbury, Conn./East Catholic) sent a left-circle attempt at 1:42 in the second period as Salatas made a glove save. At 5:05, Messina took a shot from the right point that hit sophomore Victoria Young and was redirected to the back of the net to push the Crusaders ahead 3-0. First-year Grace Peluso struck again 4:10 later at 9:15 for the Crusaders as she went one-on-one with Talcott and deked her before finishing on the right post.

Goostrey notched another at 11:32 in the second. First-year Megan Doherty (Stoughton, Mass./Walpole Express) sent a shot at 16:03 from the right circle that caused Salatas to make a glove save by the left post. Junior Sam Girard scored a short-handed goal from the right circle for Holy Cross at 16:53 before junior Amanda Kewer had a breakaway at 19:30 as her try caused Talcott to make a left-pad save.

The Crusaders notched three tallies in the third stanza with Messina scoring twice before Galvin capitalized on the rebound of Nichols's try from the left circle at 19:52 to put Saint Michael's on the board.

The Purple Knights travel to Franklin Pierce University next weekend starting on Friday at 7 p.m.
