COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's ice hockey first-year Jenna Harrison (Kitchener, Ontario/Wellesley) was named to the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Feb. 17. She claimed her second accolade of the winter after being named NEWHA Rookie of the Week on Nov. 14.
The Purple Knights' second-line center, Harrison blocked eight shots while going 14-for-28 on faceoffs in a two-game weekend series with Sacred Heart University. In a 4-1 loss on Friday, Harrison was 7-for-13 on draws with two blocks, as the teams were tied until 6:35 of the third period. She added six more blocks and a 7-for-15 faceoff performance during a 4-0 loss on Saturday, when the Purple Knights were down only 1-0 until 8:41 of the third.
Harrison has seven assists this season while winning 47.3 percent of her faceoffs and blocking 29 shots, having handed out the most helpers by a Saint Michael's rookie since Kristen Spulecki '15 had 11 in 2011-12. Harrison tied for the team lead by recording six assists in NEWHA play alone.
The Purple and Gold, which finished the regular season 6-16-1 overall and 4-11-1 in NEWHA play, drew the fourth seed in the NEWHA Tournament and hosts No. 5 Post University tonight at 7:10 p.m. on Rink 2 at Cairns Arena for a first-round contest. The winner visits No. 1 Saint Anselm College for a semifinal on Saturday at 4 p.m.
