Madelena (Santore) DeThomasis '13, a former all-conference player for the Saint Michael's women's ice hockey team, returns to her alma mater for her first season as the top assistant coach with the 2018-19 season.

In a three-year career, DeThomasis registered 50 points and 32 goals in 62 games, landing Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East All-Rookie Team laurels in 2010-11 and an ECAC East All-Conference honorable mention nod in 2011-12. She remains tied for fourth in program history in career goals and tied for eighth in points, as well as tying for first in game-winning goals (5) and tying for sixth in power-play tallies (7). As a rookie, DeThomasis set a school mark with 18 goals, with her 27 points that year still good for third all-time, and she added 10 more goals the next year. DeThomasis served as a captain in 2012-13, when she was limited to 13 games due to injuries in her final college campaign.

DeThomasis graduated from Saint Michael's in 2013 with bachelor's degrees in English and political science, having also minored in media studies, journalism & digital arts. She went on to complete her master's degree in library and information sciences from Rutgers University in her native New Jersey in 2016.
