  • Volleyball's Frazier Earns NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll Accolades

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - Junior Lindsey Frazier (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) was awarded Northeast-10 Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll accolades for the final week of their season, the conference announced on Monday. Frazier led the team in kills this year, earning 13 in the final contest of the season. This added to Frazier's new program record, officially setting it at 322 kills in a season. The previous record had been in place since 1994, originally set at 294 kills by Jess Allan.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Saint Michael’s College volleyball team (8-19, 2-13 Northeast-10 Conference) ended its season on Saturday with a 3-1 setback to the University of New Haven at the Ross Sports Center (19-25, 25-14, 25-15, 25-17). For the Purple Knights, junior Lindsey Frazier (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) recorded a team-best 13 kills, finishing with a program-record 322 kills on the season.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College volleyball senior Kelly Garthwait (Cheshire, Conn./Chesire) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 Second Team, it was announced on Thursday. Garthwait, a defensive specialist, has played in every set for the Purple Knights the last four seasons, and entered this semester with a 3.7 grade point average with a double major in elementary education and psychology. Saint Michael's (8-18) closes out its season on Saturday with a 1 p.m. home match versus the University of New Haven.

Frazier led the Purple Knights in their first winning streak of the season, going 2-0 in their contests at home. She tallied 25 kills over the course of the two matches, earning her a total of 309 in her season to date. This lands her in 10th for points in the NE-10 standings, eighth in hitting percentage and ninth in kills among her competitors.

The win completes a season sweep for the Purple Knights over the Greyhounds (Saint Michael’s tallied a 3-0 non-conference win versus Assumption on Sept. 13). Saint Michael’s returns to action on Saturday, November 7, as the Purple Knights play their final match of the season, a 1 p.m. home contest against league-rival University of New Haven at the Ross Sports Center.

    COLCHESTER, Vt. – Junior Lindsey Frazier (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) set a program record for kills in a season as the Saint Michael’s College volleyball team (7-18) won for the second time in its last three matches on Tuesday evening, besting Plattsburgh State University, 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-14), at the Ross Sports Center. Frazier finished with a match-high 15 kills, giving her 299 kills for the season. That total is three more than Jess Allan’s 296 kills set in 1994. Saint Michael’s returns to action on Friday, as the Purple Knights host Northeast-10 Conference rival Assumption College at 7 p.m. at the Ross Sports Center.

Walsh accumulated 173 assists and 83 digs over the course of their five-game schedule this past week. In the Skidmore Classic alone, she recorded 136 of those assists and 69 digs.

In the opener, the Purple Knights suffered a 3-0 loss to Union College (17-25, 22-25, 23-25), and in the nightcap, Saint Michael’s fell to Clarkson University, 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 18-25). Freshman Katie Walsh (North Kingstown, R.I./Prout School) combined for 58 assists and 27 digs in the two matches. Saint Michael’s completes play at the six-team Skidmore Classic on Saturday, as the Purple Knights take on Hunter College at 12 p.m., and the host Thoroughbreds at 2 p.m.
