2016 women's cross country outlook

COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Saint Michael's College women's cross country team returns five of its regular scorers from 2015, while three other student-athletes that scored during at least two meets are among 14 harriers that are back. Meanwhile, 13 newcomers include 11 first-years, which is believed to be a school record.

11 first-years are believed to be a program record, and match the size of the entire team during Peters' first year with the squad in 2006 ... five of the seven Purple Knights to run at the 2015 NCAA East Regional Championship set 6K personal records during the race ... the Purple and Gold placed third at two meets last fall ... Saint Michael's finished among top five at three of past five NE-10 Championships.

Saint Michael's will run on consecutive weekends only once this year, with the schedule otherwise set up for one race every two weeks ... the Purple Knights open the season on Sunday at Saint Anselm College's Shacklette Invitational ... on Sept. 30, the Vermont Intercollegiate Championship occurs on the Saint Michael's campus for the first time since 2011 ... the NE-10 Championship takes place on Oct. 22 at Stonehill College before the NCAA East Regional Championship is Nov. 5 in Contoocook, N.H., for the second straight year. Qualifiers head to the NCAA Championship on Nov. 19 in Saint Leo, Fla.
