French lands on NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll after second-place showing in college debut

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's cross country first-year Abby French (Nashua, N.H./Academy of Notre Dame) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Sept. 4, following her debut race as a collegian.

French turned in a second-place performance of 19:33 on Sunday at Saint Anselm College's 5K Shacklette Invitational, falling just three seconds shy of the winner. French's showing helped the Purple Knights win the four-team meet. Her time was the best by a Purple and Gold harrier since Chloe Boutelle '15 clocked in at 18:46 during the Mayor's Cup on Oct. 26, 2014, and the top placement since Boutelle won the NE-10 Preview Meet eight days before that. During her high school career, French went undefeated while winning her league's championship race all four years.

The Purple Knights are in action next on Sept. 17 at the NCAA East Regional Championship Preview Meet at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Contoocook, N.H. The women's race starts at 10 a.m., and the men begin an hour later.
