French Places 14th at NE10 Championship, Lands First Career All-Conference Honor

CONTOOCOOK, N.H. - Saint Michael's College women's cross country junior Abby French (Nashua, N.H./Academy of Notre Dame) landed the first all-league accolade of her career on Sunday, taking 14th among 144 runners during the Northeast-10 Conference Championship at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds. The Purple Knight men were 13th out of 15 schools, while the women placed 14th.

TEAM RESULTS

  • Purple Knight men took 13th among 15 squads in the 8K, scoring 361 points to match 12th-place Saint Anselm College and come within 13 points of The College of Saint Rose for 11th. The women were 14th out of 15 schools with 329 points during the 6K.
  • The women were without three of their regular top scorers.
  • Each of the top seven Purple Knight women set personal records, while their third- through seventh-place finishers made their 6K debuts, with the final four first-years.
  • Southern Connecticut State University's men, who are receiving votes toward the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national poll, won the NE10 crown with 50 points. Stonehill College's women, ranked second in the USTFCCCA East Region, topped the field with 20 points.
  • Purple Knights' second straight meet at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds after the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup on Oct. 20.
