SAAC hosting third annual 5K fun run and walk on Sunday

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is hosting its third annual 5K fun run and walk on Sunday to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont. The event, which begins and ends at the 300s Field, kicks off at 10 a.m. and will take participants through a tour of campus. The first 60 people to register will receive a free T-shirt.

Members of the local community and the Saint Michael's community alike are invited to sign up for the event, with entry fees $10 per person until today, April 3, and $15 afterwards. For those with a valid Saint Michael's ID, it costs $8 to enter until today and $10 afterwards. Preregistration began last week, but participants can still sign up the day of the race near the start line beginning at 9:15 a.m. Only cash or checks will be accepted. The start and finish line will be on the 300s Field, which is located between the Doc Jacobs Field Complex and the Tarrant Recreation Center/Ross Sports Center. Through the last two 5K fun run and walk events, SAAC raised nearly $2,000 for Make-A-Wish. Just this school year alone, SAAC has fundraised for Make-A-Wish through Week of Wishes, supported active military, spent Friday afternoons teaching sports skills to youths at Woodside Juvenile Rehabilitation Center, taken part in Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week and hosted a Spread The Word to End The Word function.
