COLCHESTER, Vt. - Kara Lowe will rejoin Saint Michael's College as the director of athletic internal operations, Associate Director of Athletics Meggan Dulude '07 announced on Wednesday. Lowe was the College's coordinator of athletic facilities, student workers and events for four years prior to taking a job in a similar capacity at Coe College in her native Iowa. Lowe begins her duties at Saint Michael's on July 15.
"I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to return to Saint Michael's College," said Lowe. "I wholeheartedly believe in the mission and the embodiment of a student-centered focus you see in the staff and faculty. Having the bonus of working in Athletics and for the students is the ultimate reason I am excited for this position."
In her prior tenure at Saint Michael's, Lowe oversaw student employees and facility management, served as the liaison for the club rugby programs, and played a role in game day management between the 2013-14 and 2016-17 school years. She will inherit the same responsibilities upon her return to the College.
Since May 2017, Lowe has been the athletic facilities and events coordinator at Coe in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Among her numerous responsibilities, Lowe managed the opening of a $20 million facility expansion and renovation, served as the liaison between Athletics and various campus departments, coordinated facility scheduling, oversaw business operations and transportation for all 21 Division III programs, and managed the student staff.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kara back to Saint Michael's," said Dulude. "During the interview process, Kara distinguished herself from a tremendous group of finalists. In her time away from Saint Michael's, she has taken on new and diverse responsibilities, has become an agent for change, and has implemented creative solutions to familiar challenges, all of which will help her bring new energy to her position on our team."
While pursuing her master's degree at Drake University in 2011-12 and 2012-13, Lowe also served as the recreation facility coordinator. As an undergraduate at the AIB College of Business in Des Moines, Iowa, Lowe was an AIB Activities Center assistant between September 2008 and May 2011, as well as simultaneously interning in Drake's athletic department from January 2010 until August 2011.
Lowe completed her master's in public administration with an emphasis in nonprofit organizations from Drake in 2013. After earning her associate's degree in sports and event management in 2010 from AIB, Lowe completed a bachelor's in business administration in 2011. A Dean's List honoree, she was a Presidential Scholar while working toward both degrees. Lowe was inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha, the honor society for students of public administration, and Phi Theta Kappa, recognizing academic achievement among two-year college students. Lowe was a women's basketball captain at AIB.
