Basketball Squads Close Out Regular Season On Tuesday With "Take A Kid To The Game" Day

COLCHESTER, Vt. The Saint Michael's College men's and women's basketball teams close out the regular season on Tuesday with "Take a Kid to the Game Day" versus Southern New Hampshire University at the Ross Sports Center.

The doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m., as the Saint Michael's women (13-13, 9-12 Northeast-10 Conference) host Southern New Hampshire (12-14, 8-13 NE-10). The twinbill concludes at 7:30 p.m., as the Saint Michael's men (7-18, 5-16 NE-10) square off against Southern New Hampshire (12-14, 9-12 NE-10).

As part of Take a Kid to the Game Day (TAKG), all children age 14 and under (up to six per ticketed adult) will have free admission to the doubleheader. There will be prizes, giveaways and under fun activities taking place throughout the evening.

In its 13th year, the TAKG program provides NCAA member institutions a national grassroots program that encourages adults to take children to collegiate athletic contests. The TAKG program allows institutions an opportunity to introduce area youth to its athletic programs, as well as the college or university, while also boosting attendance.

The Purple Knight women, assured of a playoff berth, can still earn a home playoff game with a win on Tuesday, plus outside help. The Lady Penmen, meanwhile, will earn a playoff berth with a win, or a loss by the University of Massachusetts Lowell on Tuesday.

On the men's side, Tuesday's contest marks the final collegiate game for Saint Michael's seniors Craig Carey (Franklin, Mass./Xaverian Brothers), Brian Monahan (Kinderhook, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), and James Sorrentine (Pawtucket, R.I./Saint Raphael Academy).
