Johnson and Locke Tied for 11th After Day 1 at Saint Rose Fall Shootout

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. - Saint Michael's College men's golf senior Matt Johnson (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) and first-year Brendan Locke (Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) are both tied for 11th place following day one of the two-day The College of Saint Rose Fall Shootout on Friday at Pinehaven Country Club. Saturday's action begins at 12:30 p.m.

TEAM RESULTS

  • As a team, the Purple Knights are tied for sixth among nine programs with 311 strokes, matching host The College of Saint Rose. Saint Michael's is two shots ahead of eighth-place Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College, which qualified for the 2019 NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship.
  • Of the five teams the Purple and Gold trails, four were regionals qualifiers last spring, among them third-place Assumption College, which won the Northeast-10 Conference Championship earlier this week.
  • The Purple Knights are within two strokes of Bentley University and five back of Franklin Pierce University, both of which competed in the 2019 NCAA regional.
