2019 Alpine Skiing Outlook

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Fresh off of sending a school-record four competitors to the NCAA Championship, resulting in a program-best 12th-place finish, the Saint Michael's College Alpine skiing team returns three veterans from NCAA Championships past to bolster a roster that counts six rookies among its 18 student-athletes.

First-Years: 6

12 different Purple Knights - six men and six women - earned NCAA Championship points last winter by placing among the top 30 in a race ... Purple Knights placed in the top 20 49 times, finishing among the top five on six occasions ... represented at NCAA Championship for seventh straight year, and for ninth time in 10 seasons ... school-record four Purple Knights competed at NCAA Championship ... three active members of program have NCAA Championship experience, including first All-America in program history, senior Guillaume Grand, who is a two-time All-America ... men's and women's squads took top four in a discipline 12 times ... set school records with 12th-place finish - out of 23 schools - and 73 points at NCAA Championship.

Saint Michael's opens the season at the Saint Lawrence University Carnival on Jan. 11-12 before heading to the University of New Hampshire Carnival the following weekend ... the next three competitions are relatively local, with two in Vermont ... the University of Vermont hosts the Feb. 1-2 carnival in advance of hosting the NCAA Championship on March 6-9 ... the Dartmouth College Carnival is Feb. 8-9, and the Middlebury College Carnival follows on Feb. 15-16 ... Bates College's carnival on Feb. 22-23 is the final Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) competition of the year, and acts as not only the EISA Championship but the NCAA East Regional Championship.

  • Clara Lopez Costa (Barcelona, Spain/Green Mountain Valley School), women's team | competed in 11 races during 1st year of NCAA skiing | led team during Williams Carnival slalom
  • Tristan McInnis (Holladay, Utah/Rowland Hall), men's team | competed in 11 races | scored NCAA Championship points during Saint Michael's Carnival slalom


  • Megan Ahearn (Ringwood, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy), women's team | competed in 2 races | came within 0.18 seconds of scoring NCAA Championship points during Dartmouth Carnival GS
  • Zach Bouchard (Merrimac, Mass./Gould Academy), men's team | competed in 12 races | 10 top-30 finishes
