Purple Knight Pair Cracks Top 25 in Giant Slalom on Day 2 of NCAA Championship

STOWE, Vt. - A pair of Saint Michael's College Alpine skiers cracked the top 25 in the giant slalom on Thursday during the NCAA Championship at Stowe Mountain Resort, as Alpine competitors took their turn for the first of two races after Nordic skiers kicked off the meet on Wednesday.

A school-record five Purple Knights qualified for the national championship, marking the third time in four years Saint Michael's set a school record for qualifiers for the NCAA meet, which involves student-athletes from Division I, II and III. Nordic races wrap up on Friday before the slalom event caps the championship on Saturday.


  • Saint Michael's currently stands 16th out of 24 institutions with 17 points, leaving the Purple and Gold seventh among 12 East programs heading into the second day of Nordic races on Friday.
