COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball junior Leah Spencer (Brockton, Mass./Archbishop Williams) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Jan. 1, earning the award for the third time this school year.
Spencer, who led the NE10 in scoring last week, averaged 26.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assist in a 1-1 week. She shot 51.2 percent from the field while turning in a 5-of-11 effort from beyond the arc. Spencer scored a career-high 29 points, including the winning basket with 5.7 seconds left, to go along with nine rebounds, four offensive boards, one assist and one steal in a 59-58 win at Daemen (N.Y.) College on Friday. She added 24 points, four rebounds, two steals and an assist in a 72-64 loss at Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College the next day.
The 5-foot-8 guard averages a career-high 15.9 points with career bests of 5.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists. Her 12 steals are already a personal best. Spencer is eighth in the NE10 in scoring while logging the second-most minutes (36.8). Through 47 career contests, she already has 571 points, just 13 short of the program's all-time top 50.
At 6-6 overall and 4-3 in the league, Saint Michael's hosts Southern Connecticut State University on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
