COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball sophomore Nicole Anderson (Kittery Point, Maine/Marianapolis Prep) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday, Dec. 9.
Anderson averaged 21.0 points on 53.3 percent shooting, including 41.2 percent (7-for-17) from three-point range, while adding 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 offensive rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals during an 0-2 week. In an 82-59 loss to regionally-ranked Saint Anselm College on Tuesday, she notched 16 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field and added six rebounds - including five on the offensive end - three assists, and a steal. During a 77-59 loss to Merrimack College on Saturday, Anderson turned in a career-high 26 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field and 6-of-14 shooting from beyond the arc, while chipping in a rebound, two steals, and an assist.
The 26 points against Merrimack were the most by a Purple Knight during an NE10 road game since Alexis Keller '10 scored 27 at The College of Saint Rose on Dec. 6, 2008. Anderson's six three-pointers were also a career high and matched the most by a Purple Knight in an NE10 road game since Jes Hambley '03 tallied seven at Assumption College on Feb. 6, 2002. Brigid Hegarty '07 also hit six threes at Le Moyne College on Feb. 4, 2006.
Despite missing the first two games of the season, Anderson is averaging 12.4 points on 44.7 percent shooting from the field in 27.4 minutes. She is also shooting 48.4 percent from three-point range, good for fifth in the NE10.
The Purple Knights are 2-7 overall and 1-6 in NE10 play and will take on Vermont Technical College at home in a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday. Vermont Tech is ranked 13th in the latest United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Division II national poll.
