COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's basketball senior Emily Ferreri (Hyde Park, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) was among 72 student-athletes across seven sports selected for a Northeast-10 Conference Academic All-Conference honor for the winter athletic season, the NE10 announced on Tuesday. She also earned the laurel as a sophomore and junior.
Ferreri, who landed a Google Cloud NCAA Division II Academic All-America first team accolade since the season ended, became the third Purple Knight to claim NE10 Academic All-Conference three times, joining Dani Rayner '07 and Jevy Rayner '07. Ferreri was one of 10 NE10 women's basketball players to land the award, as members of her program have now been recognized 18 times in the last 15 years.
Ferreri turned in career highs this year in scoring (12.9), rebounding (6.3), offensive rebounding (2.2), assists (3.7), minutes (33.2), three-point shooting (33.8%) and three-pointers (24). The 5-foot-8 guard matched her best in shooting (41.6%) while adding 1.8 steals and 11 blocks. She was eighth in the NE10 in assists, ninth in steals, 17th in offensive rebounding, 18th in rebounding and tied for 18th in scoring. The second-year captain is the only player in program history - and only the third man or woman at Saint Michael's - with 850 points (913), 400 rebounds (449), 250 assists (269), 150 steals (173) and 40 blocks (46) in a career, having played 103 games.
While majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry, psychology and religious studies, Ferreri holds a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average and is one of three Google Cloud Academic All-America first team picks in College annals. She is the school's first three-time Google Cloud Academic All-District pick. Ferreri has landed on the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll all seven of her completed semesters while twice claiming a Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Award. She was also the lone student on Saint Michael's College's Presidential Search Committee last year.
The NE10 Academic All-Conference teams are chosen by a vote of committee of athletic administrators and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FAR). To be eligible for selection to the academic all-conference teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative GPA; and 3) completed at least one academic year at their current institution.
