MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - For the second straight year, the Saint Michael's College women's cross country team finished behind only nationally-ranked Middlebury College at the Panthers' Aldrich Invitational, taking second among three schools on Saturday. The Purple Knights totaled 50 points to trail Middlebury (15), which is ranked 10th in Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Junior Chloe Boutelle (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) was the only non-Middlebury runner among the top 13 finishers in the 5K race, claiming ninth at 19:00. Classmate Lindy Heffernan (Sutton Mills, N.H./Kearsarge Regional) was 14th at 19:24, and junior Colleen Gilliatt (Grantham, N.H./Lebanon) placed 18th in 19:46. Classmate Allie Gratton (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) took 23rd by crossing in 20:18, and senior Daniela Czark (New York, N.Y./The Elan School) completed her team's top five in 24th place thanks to a time of 21:01.
The Purple Knights next compete on Sept. 28 alongside the men's squad at the Vermont Intercollegiate Championship, hosted by Castleton State College at 11 a.m.
