Boutelle wins second straight race, women take fourth and men sixth at Keene State

KEENE, N.H. - For the second straight week, Saint Michael's College junior Chloe Boutelle (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) came out victorious, this time winning the 152-entrant Keene State College Invitational on Saturday.

The Purple Knight women placed fourth among 16 schools, totaling 69 points to narrowly fall shy of the top three teams, Brandeis University (52), Keene State (59) and Wellesley College (68). Brandeis and Wellesley are both ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III New England poll. The men took sixth out of 15 institutions with 161 points, closely trailing fifth-place Saint Anselm College (153). The regionally-ranked hosts, who are also receiving national votes, won the men's meet with 24 points.

Boutelle posted a season-low time of 18:44 to best the runner-up from Brandeis by two seconds, and junior Lindy Heffernan (Sutton Mills, N.H./Kearsarge Regional) placed fifth in 19:26 behind a Judge trio. Classmate Colleen Gilliatt (Grantham, N.H./Lebanon) was 17 seconds behind, in 13th, and junior Allie Gratton (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) placed 24th at 20:00. Senior Daniela Czark (New York, N.Y./The Elan School) took 33rd in 20:26.

Junior Peter McKenna (Cohasset, Mass./Brooks School) paced the men at 28:09 to nab 22nd, and classmate Alex Gilgore (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville Senior) took 28th in 28:52. Senior Dana Glubiak (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) was 35th at 29:33, and first-year Torin La Liberte (Madison, N.H./Kennett) finished 15 seconds behind to notch a 44th-place showing. Classmate Matthaus Ayers (Springfield, Ohio/Chaminade Julienne Catholic) finished 60th to round out his team's top five.

The Purple Knight squads break for a week before returning to action at the in-state Green Mountain College Invitational on Oct. 19. The women's race begins at 11 a.m., and the men start 45 minutes afterwards.
