PORTLAND, Maine - The regionally-ranked Saint Michael's College men's tennis team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie Division I Merrimack College before losing a 4-3 decision on Friday evening in Apex Racket and Fitness. The Purple Knights were 10th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region Poll.

THE ACTION
- With the teams playing singles first, Merrimack pushed out to a 3-0 lead.
- Junior Jackson Moser (Missouri City, Texas/Ridge Point) lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1, senior Josh Weiss (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) was downed by a 6-4, 6-1 count in the second spot, and Tonini fell 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6.
- The middle of the lineup rallied to tie the match. Boucher first won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 before Du Plessis ground out a 6-2, 7-5 victory in the fifth spot. Billman picked up a memorable first college singles victory by saving a pair of match points in a 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 comeback triumph at No. 4.
- Doubles play began with Moser and sophomore Sergio Barroso (Madrid, Spain/Colegio Montpellier) losing a 6-1 decision at No. 1 in their first match together.
- Boucher and Tonini eased to a 6-2 triumph in the third spot, setting the stage for the match to be decided at No. 2 doubles. In that position, Du Plessis and Weiss partnered together for the first time and rallied from down 5-2 to within 5-4 before Merrimack served out a 6-4 win, clinching the team victory.
