COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team knocked off Saint Lawrence University, 6-1, for the first time since 1955 on Thursday in the Tarrant Recreation Center. The Purple Knights were 10th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region Poll. In a series that dates back to 1930, the teams met for the 23rd time, and just the 11th occasion since the mid-1950s.

- Boucher became the 11th Purple Knight with 50 career combined victories between singles and doubles, and the first since John Lescure '09 and Sean Steigerwald '09 both reached the plateau in 2008-09.
- Saint Michael's had last downed the Saints on May 7, 1955, in Colchester. All four Purple Knight victories in the 23-match history have come on the Saint Michael's campus. Today was the Purple and Gold's largest series win since a 6-0 triumph in their first meeting on May 23, 1930.
THE ACTION
- Barroso and Billman won at No. 3 doubles, 6-3, to put Saint Michael's on the verge of taking the doubles point, but Saint Lawrence nabbed 7-6 (9-7) wins in the other two matches.
- At No. 1, Weiss and senior Seb Tonini (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) overcame a 6-5 deficit to break a Saint's serve and force the tiebreaker, where they pushed out to a 4-1 lead behind Weiss' service. Five of the next six points went to Saint Lawrence, but the Purple Knight duo reestablished its advantage at 7-6 to reach match point. However, the Saints tallied the final three points to claim victory.
- Boucher and Du Plessis overcame six deficits in the second spot to force a tiebreaker, where neither team broke serve until the visitors claimed an 8-7 edge. They served out the next point to take the 1-0 match lead.
- Six Purple Knights won in straight sets during singles action to secure the comeback victory.
- Weiss dropped only one game at No. 1, and Boucher and Barroso made it 3-1 by yielding just three games apiece in the third and fourth spots, respectively.
- At No. 4 singles, Du Plessis led 6-4, 5-4 but was receiving down 40-15, facing a potential tie in his second set. The junior responded by winning the next three points to secure a 6-4, 6-4 triumph and clinch the Purple Knights a team victory.
- Van den Broek followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the fifth spot before Lundholm completed the sweep by a 6-4, 6-2 count at No. 6.
