LEESBURG, Fla. - The Saint Michael's College softball team knocked off Salem (W.Va.) University, 13-1, in five innings before losing a 5-4 decision to Wayne State (Mich.) University in walk-off fashion to cap a 14-game run during The Spring Games at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex.
DOUBLEHEADER FACTS
- The Purple Knights won for the first time in four meetings with Salem while meeting Wayne State for the first time since 2016.
- Saint Michael's suffered four of its Florida losses by two runs or fewer, with its final two losses coming on walk-off hits.

THE ACTION
- Connor knocked a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning before Waghorn slugged a two-out, three-run homer.
- After Arroyo came through with a two-out RBI single in the third, Welter drilled a long three-run home run to center field with two out in the home half, and the Purple Knights led 8-1.
- Five more runs came home in the fourth, as Hiscock, Arruda and Davidson all picked up RBI singles, while Hearn tacked on a sac fly.

THE ACTION
- Connor's double with two down in the top of the first inning plated Pratt with an unearned run, but Bonk and O'Donnell both tripled in the second to tie the game.
- The Warriors scored three runs on three hits and an error in the fourth, with O'Donnell's two-run double the key blow.
- The Purple Knights tied the game the following inning, with Davidson knocking an RBI double, Pratt scoring Edgerly on a fielder's choice, and Devens tying the game with an RBI single up the middle.
- Wayne State threatened by putting two on with two out in the home half, but Hearn fanned the final hitter.
- Waghorn and sophomore Kaylee Morey (Stonington, Maine/Deer Isle-Stonington) both reached scoring position with one out in the sixth, but a groundout and strikeout ended the rally.

- In the bottom of the seventh, Peru doubled with one out and moved to third on Hodder's single. After a shallow fly ball to center field went for the second out, Ruczynski legged out an infield single on a difficult grounder to junior second baseman Angelica Johns' (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) backhand to score Peru with the winning run.
