Regionally-Ranked Men's Tennis Downs Bentley, 6-1

COLCHESTER, Vt. - The regionally-ranked Saint Michael's College men's tennis team knocked off Bentley University, 6-1, during Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday at the SMC Tennis Courts. The Purple Knights were ninth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll.

THE ACTION
  • Saint Michael's opened the match by sweeping doubles. Brooker and Moser improved to 7-4 this season with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 before Barroso and Du Plessis moved to 6-4 behind a 7-5 triumph in the second spot to clinch the doubles point and a 1-0 lead.
  • Billman and van den Broek remained perfect through two matches together with a 7-6 (6-3) win at No. 1.
  • Barroso claimed a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles before Moser dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision in the second spot, allowing Bentley to creep within 2-1
  • The Purple Knights ran the table from there. Van den Broek earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3, Brooker nabbed a 6-0, 7-5 victory in the sixth spot, Du Plessis rallied for a 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-4) win in his first college match at No. 1, and Billman finished off a 6-0, 3-6, 6-0 win in the fifth position.
