29 Saint Michael's Skiers Earn USCSCA All-Academic National Accolades

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Twenty-nine Saint Michael's College skiers earned United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA) National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team honors for the 2024 season, being recognized for posting a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade-point average through the most recent semester.
 
At least 10 Purple Knight student-athletes between both the Alpine and Nordic teams have now landed USCSCA honors in 13 consecutive school years. Fifteen members of the Nordic team and 14 Alpine representatives garnered laurels.
 
Alpine skiing May graduate Simen Strand (Nedre Høvik, Norway/Dønski VGS) was recognized for the fourth straight year, while classmates Gigi Kelsey (Vail, Colo./Vail Mountain School) and Niko Selvaag (Snarøya, Norway/Dønski VGS) and rising seniors Margrethe Frøland (Rælingen, Norway/Dønski VGS), Sofie Gjetsund (Oslo, Norway/Persbråten VGS) and Moa Lundén (Stockholm, Sweden/Jämtlands Gymnasium Åre) all claimed their third USCSCA National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team accolade.
 
May graduate Nikolai Riiber (Oslo, Norway/Persbråten VGS), rising senior Helene Kristoffersen (Rælingen, Norway/Dønski VGS), and rising juniors Gray Flanagan (West Burke, Vt./Green Mountain Valley School) and Lawton Jones (Williston, Vt./Green Mountain Valley School) posted their second honors. Rising sophomores Emma Bergner (Malung-Sälen, Dalarna, Sweden/Stjerneskolan), Ada Jones (Williston, Vt./Green Mountain Valley School), Kyleena Lathram (Avon, Colo./Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy) and Aidan Robin (Stowe, Vt./Burke Mountain Academy) all debuted on the list.
 
Nordic skiing rising seniors Declan Hutchinson (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) and Izzy Quam (Stillwater, Minn./Mounds Park Academy) were both lauded for the third time, while May graduate Grace Castonguay (Jackson, N.H./Kennett) and rising sophomores Astrid Bakke (Nedre Høvik, Norway/Dønski VGS), Theo Castonguay (Jackson, N.H./Kennett) and Clara Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman) all earned their second nod.
 
Nine rising sophomores were recognized: Kayley Bell (Caribou, Maine/Caribou), Michael Brännare-Gran (Haslum, Norway/Dønski VGS), Zoe Devine (Ely, Minn./Memorial), Evelyn Hudrlik (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake Area), Phoebe Hussey (Ripton, Vt./Green Mountain Valley School), Oliver Miatke (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East), Fran Peterson (Barron, Wis./Barron), Andrew Scanio (Lake Placid, N.Y./Lake Placid) and Henrik Wist (Trondheim, Norway/Heimdal VGS).
