Men's Tennis Defeats NE10 Foe Franklin Pierce, 5-2

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Four student-athletes won twice as the Saint Michael's College men's tennis team knocked off Franklin Pierce University, 5-2, on Thursday during Northeast 10 Conference play in the Tarrant Recreation Center.

THE ACTION
  • Saint Michael's swept doubles, yielding only seven games total. Lundholm and Macpherson earned a 6-2 win at No. 2 before Lin and van den Broek picked up a 6-3 victory in the third spot during their debut as a tandem to clinch the opening point. Boban and Brooker followed with a 6-2 win at No. 1 to improve to 5-3.
  • Macpherson lost only two games in a straight-set singles victory in the fourth spot before van den Broek claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 to make it 3-0.
  • After Boban lost a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 contest in the top spot and Franklin Pierce earned a win at No. 6 to draw within 3-2, Lundholm finished off a 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 comeback victory at No. 5 to clinch his team's victory. He improved to 6-1 this season with the triumph.
  • Brooker completed action by virtue of a 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 7-5 win in the third position.
