COLCHESTER, Vt. - Saint Michael's College women's swimming & diving legend and assistant coach
Lindsay McNall '17 was among six charter members of the Colchester High School Hall of Fame honored last weekend. The inaugural class was recognized on the field at halftime of the varsity boys' soccer game.
Â
McNall, a member of the Colchester High School Class of 2013, was the only student from the 21st century enshrined, joining Class of 1992 graduates Alan Laroche, Jennifer (Guerin) Riordan and Daniel Westover, Merritt David Janes '99, and long-time administrator, faculty member and coach Leigh Mallory. According to the school's website, criteria considered for selection includes secondary and post-secondary achievements, professional or lifetime accomplishments, recommendations, and community involvement. While high school performance is important, it is not solely determinative. The committee gives consideration to those who successfully unite noteworthy accomplishments in school and life.
Â
McNall is the only All-America swimmer in Saint Michael's College history, becoming the first Purple Knight swimmer or diver to compete at an NCAA Championship, as a senior in 2017. She was a three-time Northeast 10 Conference champion, three-time New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) titlist, won 102 races, and graduated with eight school records and an NE10 Championship mark.
Â
McNall's senior year remains one of the best in program annals: The captain won the NE10's 100- and 200-yard backstroke championships, with her 200 back time shattering an NE10 Championship record; it remains a league standard. She also took second in the 100-yard butterfly. She later garnered an invitation to the NCAA Championship in Birmingham, Ala., and landed a College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All-America honorable mention by taking 15th in the 100 back. McNall was named NE10 Swimmer of the Year and the NE10 Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award winner that winter, adding her second career CSCAA Individual Scholar All-America.
Â
Since 2021-22, McNall has served as the top assistant coach for the Saint Michael's men's and women's swimming & diving teams, helping mentor student-athletes who have claimed four all-conference accolades and set school records in 17 events. A 2022 inductee of the Saint Michael's Athletic Hall of Fame, McNall teaches math at Stowe Middle School.
