Women's Lacrosse Loses to 10th-Ranked Adelphi

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Playing its second nationally-ranked foe in three days, the Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse team split the game's first six goals with No. 10 Adelphi University before losing 19-7 on Friday afternoon during Northeast-10 Conference play at Duffy Field. The Panthers' national ranking is according to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).

GAME FACTS
  • Both teams took 30 shots, while Adelphi held narrow edges in ground balls (19-18), draw controls (15-14) and caused turnovers (10-9).
THE ACTION
  • The teams combined for four goals in an early 1:43 stretch, with Adelphi leading 3-1 by 11:12 of the opening quarter thanks to two goals by Leggio. Bertucci scored on a free-position strike for the Purple Knights.
  • Conover and Lynch later tallied 46 seconds apart, with Conover assisting the second marker, to level the teams at 8:13.
  • Hedges scored 39 seconds later to spark a 14-1 run.
  • The Purple Knights held a 14-2 lead in third-quarter shots, but McFadden made all nine of her saves in the stanza, limiting the hosts to only a goal by Conover with 2:14 to go.
