Conover Reaches 100-Point Milestone, Women's Lacrosse Downs Franklin Pierce, 14-9

RINDGE, N.H. - Saint Michael's College women's lacrosse junior Audrey Conover (West Newbury, Mass./Pentucket Regional) hit the 100-point plateau for her career, classmate Ginnie Hamilton (Middletown, R.I./Middletown) broke a school record for season draw controls, and the Purple Knights avenged an early-season loss with a 14-9 victory over Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday at Sodexo Field.
 
With two regular-season games remaining, the Purple Knights are half a game out of the seventh and final Northeast 10 Conference Championship position.

  • Conover reached 100 career points on the nose, becoming the 20th Purple Knight to hit the milestone.
  • Hamilton finished the night with 98 points while extending her season draw control figure to 64, eclipsing a school record set by Associate Director of Athletics Annie Martin's '19 (63) in 2018. She also passed Martin on the career list, taking over third with 146 to Martin's 143.
  • Senior Ellie Drinkwater (North Kingstown, R.I./North Kingstown) moved into a tie for ninth in program history in career caused turnovers (50) with Addy Fenton '25.
  • With 147 saves, Amigo is three short of the program's first-year record, set by Jess Anderson '05 in 2002 (150). Heather Ahearn '93 set the rookie mark with 156 stops as a junior in 1992.
  • The Purple Knights avenged a 12-11 non-conference defeat at the hands of the Ravens during their home opener on March 4. Saint Michael's won on Franklin Pierce's home first for the first time since April 8, 2014.
THE ACTION
  • Adams' strike from junior Layne Doherty's (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) feed just 1:09 into the game gave Saint Michael's the lead for good, and Conover's second goal made it 4-1 by 7:17 of the first quarter.
  • After McIlroy found the net at 4:03, the Purple Knights rattled off a 3-0 spurt, leading 7-2 on Krawciw's goal at 10:57 of the second period.
  • Three Ravens scored in a 3:57 span to bring the hosts within two goals before Hamilton struck for a woman-up goal with 31 seconds left in the half, sending the visitors into intermission up 8-5.
  • Again nursing a two-goal lead early in the second half, Saint Michael's scored four of the next five goals, with two apiece from Adams and Conover, to lead 12-7 at 11:15 of the fourth stanza.
  • Franklin Pierce never rallied within four goals from there, including as Conover reached the 100-point milestone by scoring with 3:38 remaining in the game.
