GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The Saint Michael's College men's tennis team was downed by regionally-ranked Adelphi University, 7-0, on Saturday in a Northeast 10 Conference match on the Adelphi Tennis Courts. The Panthers were among five teams listed in the initial NCAA East Region rankings.

With only their regular-season finale remaining, the Purple Knights need a victory at Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday and help from around the league to qualify for the four-team NE10 Championship.

THE ACTION
- The Purple Knights lost all three doubles matches by 6-2 counts. The No. 1 tandem of juniors Viktor Boban (Zagreb, Croatia/Franjo Bucar/Frostburg State) and Garrett Brooker (Charleston, S.C./Oceanside Collegiate Academy) met the 10th-ranked team in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Region poll, while senior Simon Lundholm (Le Luc, France/CNED) and sophomore Jamie Macpherson (Durham, United Kingdom/Framwellgate School Durham) faced the fifth-ranked duo at No. 2.
- Brooker lost a 6-4, 6-0 singles decision in the top spot to the region's 12th-ranked player, while Boban, himself 19th in the East, fell 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 against the region's eighth-ranked student-athlete.
- Macpherson lost a 6-3, 6-4 contest at No. 3, while first-year Ferm Koppelmans (Veghel, The Netherlands/Udens College) suffered a 6-0, 4-6, 10-7 setback in the fifth spot.
