COLCHESTER, Vt. - The Saint Michael's College men's and women's outdoor track teams are primed to make their Northeast 10 Conference Championship debuts later this week, as the two-day event will be hosted on Friday and Saturday by Southern Connecticut State University.

Under the guidance of head coach Molly Peters, who recently completed her 20th season as head coach of women's cross country and fifth as men's cross country head coach, the Purple Knights have turned in 45 individual top-10 performances during their inaugural season as a varsity outfit. On April 18, first-year Demunga Alfani (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) registered the program's historic first event win, taking the 100-meter dash (10.82) at the Middlebury College Invitational. He also aided the runner-up 4x400-meter relay (3:37.17).

Alfani enters the NE10 Championship tied for the 12th-fastest time in the league in the 100 while siding with senior Braden Butler (South Berwick, Maine/Marshwood), junior Kyle LeVangie (Medfield, Mass./Medfield) and sophomore Cooper Brennan (Wilton, N.Y./South Glens Falls) on the seventh-fastest 4x400 relay. Butler owns the 10th-fastest 5,000-meter run (15:32.36) performance, while junior Adam Bilodeau (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) and sophomore Taggart Schrader (East Montpelier, Vt./U-32) stand eighth (33:42.10) and ninth (33:51.25), respectively, in the 10,000-meter run. First-year Josh Pelletier (North Andover, Mass./North Andover) is 10th (10:58.02) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

First-year Maggie Crawford (Granby, Mass./Granby) sits seventh in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.60), while junior Meredith Reilly (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) is eighth in the 10,000 (42:08.16). Sophomore Norah Stubbs (Essex Junction, Vt./Essex) has the ninth-best time in the 10,000 (47:17.14) while placing 10th in the steeplechase (14:15.01).
