HOOKSETT, N.H. - The Saint Michael's College softball team capped its season by defeating regionally-ranked Southern New Hampshire University, 4-3, on Saturday during Northeast 10 Conference play at the SNHU Softball Field. After the opening contest featured a rain delay of one hour and 51 minutes, the second game of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled. The Penmen were fifth in this week's NCAA East Region rankings.

- Senior CJ Davidson (Canyon Lake, Calif./Vista Murrieta) launched a two-run home run while pitching her team to victory. Her 27 RBI this season were six short of Jenna Devens' '25 year-old program mark. Davidson will graduate first in program history in career sacrifice flies (9), second in at bats (485), third in runs (78), tied for third in games (157) and triples (8), tied for fourth in RBI (71), fifth in wins (18) and walks as a batter (44), sixth in pitching complete games (35), tied for sixth in doubles (22), and seventh in hits (124), innings pitched (307.2) and pitching strikeouts (112).
- Senior Brooke Edgerly (Morley, Mich./Morley Stanwood) set a school record with 156 at bats this year while finishing with 52 hits, tying SMC Athletic Hall of Famer Casey Brooks '07 (2006) for second in program history. Only SMC Athletic Hall of Famer Ashley Harkins '09 ever had more, with 55 in 2009. Edgerly capped her career third in program history in career stolen bases (29), fourth in runs (77), sixth in hits (127), seventh in games (155) and eighth in at bats (445).

THE ACTION
- Davidson's two-run homer provided the Purple Knights a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
- Abbott scored on a sac fly in the second before plating the tying run on senior Sidney Rose's two-out bases-loaded walk in the fourth, shortly after which the rains came.
- With two out in the top of the sixth, Liimatainen unloaded a two-run double to the right center gap to put the visitors up 4-2.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Abbott's two-out RBI single halved the Penmen's deficit. With runners at the corners, the final batter flew out.
