COLCHESTER, Vt. - Two dozen Saint Michael's College student-athletes studied away from campus in various corners of the world this summer and during the 2025-26 school year, thanks in large part due to coordination from Director of Study Abroad Peggy Imai and the College's Study Abroad Office.
 
While nine spent full spring and summer terms away, seven more enrolled in two-week classes this summer, as "Atlanticism and Transnational Democracy" (France/Belgium), "Shakespeare in Performance" (England), and "Trees, Shrines and Temples: Sustainable Forestry in the Japanese Context" (Japan) were offered in May. Men's soccer rising junior Ivan Henwood (Brooklyn, N.Y./Institute for Collaborative Education/Clarkson) also completed a two-month internship program in Madrid, Spain.
 
The Freeman Foundation supported two additional two-month internships. Fifteen Saint Michael's students - including five student-athletes - finished professional internships in business, educational, and other non-profit settings in South Korea and Vietnam through grants from the Freeman Foundation, which supports intercultural understanding between the United States and Asia.
 
Women's Basketball

• Rising senior Kat Gleeson (Moultonborough, N.H./Moultonborough Academy) - Freeman Foundation International Internship in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (summer). Worked for SENBOX, an education center for children with learning disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Its mission is to provide an affordable and effective, structured framework of special education learning tools for Vietnam and other countries.

Women's Cross Country/Outdoor Track

• Rising senior Meredith Reilly (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) - Florence, Italy (summer)
• Rising junior Jersey Miller (Minneapolis, Minn./Saint Louis Park) - Freeman Foundation International Internship in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (summer); also Nordic skiing. Worked for Conservation Vietnam, a five-year-old company addressing the challenges of maintaining the country's unique biodiversity.
