WORCESTER, Mass. - In a Northeast 10 Conference that featured a trio of three-set singles matches, the Saint Michael's College men's tennis team lost to defending NE10 Championship titlist Assumption University, 6-1, on Saturday at the Assumption Tennis Courts. The Greyhounds also qualified for the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

THE ACTION
- Seniors Viktor Boban (Zagreb, Croatia/Franjo Bucar/Frostburg State) and Garrett Brooker (Charleston, S.C./Oceanside Collegiate Academy) began doubles play with a 6-3 loss at No. 1 before one break of service in each of the other two contests assured Assumption of the match's opening point.
- Junior Jamie Macpherson (Durham, United Kingdom/Framwellgate School Durham) and sophomore Ferm Koppelmans (Veghel, The Netherlands/Udens College) lost the clinching 6-4 decision at No. 3 before Deshayes and junior Richard Lin (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) were also defeated by a 6-4 count in the second position.
- Macpherson lost 6-1, 7-5 at No. 3 singles before Boban (4-6, 6-2, 6-1) and Brooker (3-6, 6-1, 6-2) both won their opening sets during setbacks in the second and first spots, respectively, giving Assumption the four points it needed for victory.
- Deshayes trailed in his opening set, 4-1, before winning via retirement for the Purple Knights' lone point and his initial college singles victory.
- Lin lost in straight sets at No. 5, and Koppelmans was downed by virtue of a third-set super-tiebreaker, 7-5, 4-6, 10-5, in the sixth slot.
