Saint Michael's College graduate Joe Connelly'87 enters his 11th season as head coach of the PurpleKnights' men's and women's Nordic ski team in 2011-12, whichcompetes in the Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association againstthe top programs in the East. In addition to coaching the Nordicskiers, Connelly has been head coach of the Saint Michael's men'scross country team since 2001.

Connelly brings a well rounded background in endurance sportscompetition and coaching to Saint Michael's. He has raced in 20marathons, including 10 consecutive Boston Marathons, multiple 50kski marathons, and competed extensively on the U.S. TriathlonSeries, including the 1989 USTS National Championship.

Connelly is a 1987 graduate of Saint Michael's with a degree inaccounting. He lettered on the Nordic team all four years and alsowas a cross country letter winner his junior and senior years. Anative of Glenville, N.Y., Connelly competed in Nordic and AlpineSkiing, golf and tennis at Scotia-Glenville High School. Prior tojoining the coaching staff of Saint Michael's, Connelly wasemployed as an accountant in the long-term care and softwareindustries. A resident of Burlington, he currently serves asTechnical Coordinator for RunVermont, Inc, producer of the KeyBankVermont City Marathon and other sporting events and camps.
