Joe Goodreau returns for his seventh year as the Saint Michael's softball program's mental performance coach with the 2026 season. His primary role is focusing on growth mindset strategies student-athletes need to develop the habits, behaviors and routines needed, on and off the field, to achieve their goals and perform at a high level with an elite mindset.
A Colchester native, lifelong athlete and the older brother of softball head coach Nick Goodreau, Goodreau is owner of J. Goodreau Coaching and is a certified mental performance mastery (MPM) coach and MPM-trained athlete, and is the creator of the Mindset Readiness Training program. Goodreau utilizes the same mental performance training system, processes and strategies used with elite performers and top athletes from high school and NCAA teams, to athletes in the NBA, PGA, NFL, NHL and MLB.
In addition to being an MPM-certified coach, Goodreau is a certified consultant with the Proctor Gallagher Institute, where he was trained and mentored by Bob Proctor, a world-renowned expert on the mind, human potential and success. He is currently pursuing a bachelor of science degree from Grand Canyon University in performance and sport psychology.
Before launching his coaching business, Goodreau served as vice president and chief information officer for SymQuest Group in South Burlington, directing all technology teams and functions between 2014 and 2016. In the 13 years prior at SymQuest, Goodreau advanced through the roles of director of service-document solutions to vice president-service & support, where he focused on building and developing effective teams in a culture where they could thrive and build a successful career.
