Former Saint Michael's women's volleyball captain Julia Colasanti '18 returns to her alma mater for her third year as an assistant coach during the 2022-23 school year.
The Purple Knights did not compete during the 2020-21 school year, when three rookies from three different states joined the squad. Eight more rookies comprised the newest group of Purple Knights in 2021-22, including student-athletes from California, Massachusetts, Michigan and Puerto Rico. Two Vermonters dotted the roster, one a transfer and the other 2019 Vermont Gatorade Player of the Year Syrah Wright '25.
A libero/defensive specialist during her playing career, Colasanti is 15th in program history in career digs (788), having moved into the primary libero role as a senior captain. She notched a career-high 265 digs that season, finishing eighth in the Northeast-10 Conference with 4.49 per set.
A seven-time qualifier for the NE10 Academic Honor Roll, studying abroad in her other semester, Colasanti graduated cum laude in May 2018 with degrees in environmental science and media studies, journalism & digital arts. The Dean's List student was heavily involved on campus, including serving in the Purple Knight Leadership Academy (PKLA) and Student Government Association. Colasanti was captain of the Improv Team while also participating with the Founders Society, Cheese Club, Fly Fishing Club and ShredMC.
