  • Title
    Strength & Conditioning Fellow

Women's swimming & diving alumna Patty Kohn '19 joined the Saint Michael's strength & conditioning staff through a Tara VanDerveer Fund for the Advancement of Women in Coaching grant from the Women's Sports Foundation (WSF) in fall 2023. Kohn will work alongside strength & conditioning coach Greg Wilson.

Since graduating from Saint Michael's, Kohn completed a doctor of physical therapy degree at Columbia University, earning a Clinical Education Fellowship and Columbia Merit Scholarship along the way. Also a licensed physical therapist, Kohn was a teaching assistant to younger physical therapy students while at Columbia. She also works as a physical therapist at Transitions Physical Therapy in Essex Junction and has been a physical therapy technician at Spear Physical Therapy in New York City.

A native of Weston, Conn., Kohn was a senior captain in 2018-19 and still has her name on six school records, three of which came during individual distance freestyle races. She won 94 career races and holds the program record with 39 relay victories. The Dean's List student was secretary of Beta Beta Beta and president of the Honors Program before earning the Department of Athletics' Diane C. Foster '77 Award, which recognizes students displaying compassion, sacrifice and service, at the 2019 Block 'M' Senior Awards banquet.

After graduating with a degree in biology and a concentration in pre-health, with minors in psychology, chemistry and music, Kohn served on a medical mission to the Dominican Republic in May 2019 and was a research technician at the University of Vermont for a year.

WSF grants were awarded to institutions to support collegiate women coaches on the rise, assisting with living expenses, professional development and mentorship. Saint Michael's is one of 10 universities and colleges to receive the grants, which are designated for women coaching fellows in a wide variety of women's sports.
