Less than seven minutes later, Skidmore capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play, scoring twice in a 37-second span with the man advantage to increase its lead to 3-0. The hosts added another power play goal with 21 seconds left in the period, and led 4-0 after 20 minutes of action.
The Throughbreds sealed the victory with two goals in an 18-second span late in the second period, and an even-strength goal midway through the third period.
Skidmore finished with a 44-27 edge in shots on goal, and 4-of-6 on the power play (compared to 0-of-2 for Saint Michael's).
Saint Michael's is back in action on Saturday with a 4 p.m. contest at third-ranked Castleton State College.
